Taguig City – The Technology Application and Promotion Institute of the Department of Science and Technology (DOST-TAPI) announced the call for entries to the 2021 Regional Invention Contest and Exhibits.

RICE is a nationwide activity that recognizes the indispensability of Filipino men and women inventors and researchers in the landscape of national development through a form of competition.

It give encouragement to inventors and researchers to showcase their inventive prowess as they fight for cash incentives, awards, and bragging rights to represent their region to the National Invention Contest and Exhibits (NICE).

“The regional contest serves as the qualifying round to the NICE pursuant to Republic Act 7459 or the Inventors and Invention Incentives Act of the Philippines,” said DOST-TAPI Director Edgar I. Garcia.

The contestants have a chance to compete for the outstanding invention, utility model, industrial design, creative research, and student creative research for high school and college students.

Each of the qualifying entries will be judged according to the category they have chosen by an esteemed panel of judges.

Some of the criteria for judging include novelty, commercial viability, stage of development and cost, unique value proposition, and scientific and technical merits, among others.

The 2021 RICE, in close collaboration with the DOST Regional Offices, will be conducted all throughout the year with the following schedules and deadline of submission of entries:
