In response to the current coronavirus disease (COVID-19) pandemic, the Technology Application and Promotion Institute of the Department of Science and Technology (DOST-TAPI) created a new program that assists entrepreneurs whose businesses fight COVID-19 in 2020.
Prime Innov8 Manufacturing Co., which manufactures disinfectants, is one of the beneficiaries of LIGTAS COVID-19 in 2020
The restrictions on transportation and physical gatherings had made a huge impact on the way people live including business transactions that have crippled most of the economies.
As an initiative, DOST-TAPI created the Level-up Innovation Government Support for Technologies against the Spread of COVID-19 or LIGTAS COVID-19 in support to the Bayanihan to Heal as One Act.
LIGTAS COVID-19 provides financial assistance to qualified micro, small, and medium entrepreneurs (MSME) to acquire raw materials for the production of relevant products against the spread of the deadly virus.
In 2020, six projects were given financial support with an approximate total of eight million pesos.
The support given was able to produce disinfectants, mechanical hospital beds, organic coconut-based products, and vitamin supplements.
“We recover the extended financial assistance equal to the full value of the provided amount without interest,” said LIGTAS COVID-19 Program Manager Maria Theresa A. Sobremisana.
The financial assistance helped the following beneficiaries manufacture their products and optimized their operations by fulfilling their purchase orders:
- C and H Cosmetics Industry
- East LA Industry, Inc.
- Manna Shameyn Enterprises
- Prime Innov8 Manufacturing Co.
- Pasciolo Agri Ventures
- i-Provide Health Food Manufacturing
LIGTAS COVID-19 is accepting project proposals for 2021.
